Had an interesting day which has left me with more drive to do waht needs to be done which is to change me - a lot
the majority of this is stuff I've gone over before but haven't done anything about because of stupid reasons and insecurities and worrying about people/stuff
so I'm not going into all that but a thing I'm going to start at the end of the month is this
I've recently more than decimated my digital music collection and have to replace it
but where do you start when you have a collection of over 3gb and thousands of tracks
Dio
years ago I bought a Dio ep which had in it a 'family tree' which is to say all teh bands Ronnie James Dio has been in over the years which include Rainbow, Black Sabbath and of Course Dio
so I'm going to do that
with Dio and Genesis (Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins and Mike and the Mechanics etc)
music and research - nice
I find, when organizing things, that it helps not to be too specific in categorizing things. It might be better to split your music into genres, then alphabetical order. I also find with downloaded music that sometimes it helps to have a clear out. Get rid of stuff you don't listen to a lot. It can always be downloaded again at a later date. And there is less to sort through. Not so easy to have a clear out with game books or comics of course when we have so many and make use of them so often.
ReplyDeleteI also find it helpful to do a little at a time so it is fun rather than work.
You might find this interesting. You've probably seen the ad but just in case.

I've come to realize that I prefer older music. A lot of modern music, A LOT, is mass produced rubbish. I'm not a rock or heavy metal fan, but sometimes a song from those genres will be used in a film and catch my eye, well, ear.
For example, I don't like Tears for Fears, but the song Everybody Wants to Rule the World, from the movie Real Genius is a song I love. And Top Gun has a great soundtrack but is, for me, a dire film.
