In recent years I've had a lot to think about, not going into too many details but the stuff I want to talk about is quite simple

Where do I go from here?

Got a place in Nottingham City Centre which I have failed to take proper advantage of (mostly down to the bad diet thing, causes loss of motivation apart from anything else)

Couldn't think about what to do with my life and started an OU course more because I thought thats what I wanted to do years ago and it seems to be the right thing to do generally in life... to do what get a better job? to buy a house? (not likely considering prices and my age)

To travel the world? I'm looking at events in Wales next year and getting excited

I have a theory

Robs favorite saying "to thine own self be true" wise words but I'm not sure what my own self is

So I'm thinking about what I was doing when I was really happy years ago before I met the Britt monster and before Rise Park.

I was thinner

I was funnier

I enjoyed things more

and I was a massive Doctor Who fan

They say you can't go back, they say your too old for things like Doctor Who ....... I think they're wrong

I'm getting thinner (slowly), my sense of humour is coming back, and I'm going to Who things up from here on out

My hair is getting longer, I'm growing my beard more (in a good non bushy way) I'm going to Doctor Who Events starting this September and I'm feeling great about all this

In a year or so I'm going to think about university and things of that nature (by that time I'm going to be thinner)

  1. Great post. Really inspirational.
A while ago I looked at house prices in the nottingham area, and house prices surprised me. I saw 3 bedroom houses in Arnold, for example, for 70 or 80 grand. I have no idea what kind of cost a mortgage would be but I had no idea house prices were so low.
I don't want to speak out of turn, but i think you are feeling isolated from people to some extent, and maybe living closer to some of your friends would brighten your outlook even more. Not that you don't have good motivation and great plans, you do.
As for university, I just signed up for an arts course with the O.U. as my next 60 point module. I'm not sure I will get funding for it, but it looks daunting (challenging). If I can't get funding I will do introduction to maths (not as interesting) as my next. :)

  2. I have re-read my posts to you and I have realised something. Maybe I'm wrong. You do know that it's me don't you? (Matthew (brother)).:D

Only my messages seem really creepy if I'm a stranger.

I have to comment anonymously because the only other option it gives me is to comment under a Google name I don't remember creating.

    :)

  3. I knew it was you

we call it data matching at work, putting bits of what you were saying in your post together and I guessed (hence my use of the word 'bro' a few comments back :)

Plus I'm a smartass (as you are well aware)

you should get the funding for the course as it's income based (I think)

Looking forward to seeing parts of the country and this thing in deby sounds like load of fun (£35 for the ticket but you get to meet guests and get some autographed photos)

Going to turn my little room into a 'Who' room since there are hundreds of novels and cds, gonna get some posters and getthe place shelved up - it's going to be quite cool :)

  4. The 'Who' room sounds great. A nice little space to sit and chill.

My hope is to get a 2 bedroom flat (not likely) and use one for my computer, and consoles. I only have room for one console to be connected at a time at the moment.

Sadly my Homesearch/Link isn't going anywhere. Since I got the NCC local connection (thanks for that) there have literally been no properties in the areas I want. I haven't even been offered anything I do bid on. I think these services cater more for the elderly, single parents or people who are working. It doesn't help that I have restrictions on where I can live (my own stupid fault).

I even started looking at properties further afield, including Nottingham City Centre, but with no luck.

Anyway, hopefully in 2 weeks my neighbour (who was arrested for robbery and posession of canabis) will be evicted. He's in court on the 27th concerning his anti social behaviour and if he doesn't show, Gedling Homes will give him 7 days to remove his stuff, ot they send in the bailifs.

  5. brace yourself it took 2 years to get this place and I wasn't offered anything else - you're gonna have to stick with it

as for the who room it'll be just for storage it gets condensation but Lanlgey showed me a trick with the windows that stops it but that means its absolutely freezing in winter okay for book storage but sitting in living room for the rest :)

  6. I know what you mean. It cost me a fortune heating the flat and I still get condensation and mold. Do you have storage heaters too?

Last winter I bought 2 oil filled radiators. They are great. They can heat a room in about 20 minutes and it stays warm for a while after switching off. You could use Langley's trick and one of those and make the room useable.

You're right about sticking with it. I had a question on Homeswapper today, but had to refuse it because of restrictions, so Homesearch/Link are my only option.

Ironically the criminal below me got a flat 4 days after his registration date. I guess it pays to be a drug dealer (he was evicted before for growing drugs in his flat.

  7. BTW those oil filled radiators only cost me around £40 and they are brilliant. Small but effective.

  8. I was wondering if you would consider perhaps unblocking me on Facebook. I think that this weeks conversation on here has gone well. I will give you the time and space you need, but I think this kind of contact is healthy.

  10. I'm sorry if I overstepped by asking that. I'm trying to make positive changes, and solving our issues is part of that.

  11. I just remembered something I Meant to ask the other day when we were discussing Doctor Who, and you were saying you were getting heavily into Who again. I have been collecting (downloading)the score albums as they're released, and they're amazing. The last 3 have been double cd albums, and the music for David Tennants final episodes blows me away. It is without a doubt the best TV score I have ever heard. I don't know if that is an area of Doctor Who you intend topursue, or you may already have, but I highly recommend them. In fact, I could even Email them to you. They're guaranteed virus free and free of charge. Let me know.:D

  12. I'm going to be collecting loads of stuff not sure of the parameters yet but probably the novels and cds/dvds - thanks for the offer of the soundtracks but I can get them myself :)

  13. After a lot of Googling (sounds rude), and no success, I would like to ask a question.

Do you know of any sources of information for finding a role-playing group in the Nottingham area. I am desperate to get back into it and have the books and experience (no pun), and it seems a waste not to get involved again. I'm not sure if roleplaying has become a secret society but I can't find anything.

Any help would be appreciated. :)

  14. I have no idea how often you check to see if there are comments here, but I didn't ask that question casually. I am trying to change my situation and require some assistance. Since your still in the gaming world it seems logical that you might have information or know where to get it. Plus you never answered my question about Facebook. :)

  15. been poking around but can't find any groups with gaps you'll just have to be patient - as for the facebook thing we're okay on here FB is largely the same thing
